India has strongly dismissed the 2025 Annual Report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), labeling the panel an "entity of concern." The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticized the report, stating it continues a pattern of issuing "biased and politically motivated assessments."

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal remarked that the USCIRF's persistent attempts to misrepresent isolated incidents and cast aspersions on India's diverse society reflect a deliberate agenda rather than a genuine concern for religious freedom.

The Indian government further asserted that such reports undermine India's global standing as a democratic and tolerant nation. "India is home to 1.4 billion people of all faiths, yet the USCIRF refuses to acknowledge the nation’s pluralistic framework and harmonious coexistence," the statement said.

New Delhi has previously dismissed USCIRF’s assessments as lacking objectivity and interfering with India's sovereignty. The government also criticized the commission’s methodology, arguing it relies on unreliable sources while ignoring India's constitutional safeguards for religious freedom.
