Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his landmark two-day visit to Kuwait, underscored the historic and multifaceted ties between India and the Gulf nation, with a focus on trade, energy partnerships, and the welfare of the Indian diaspora.

During the second day of his visit, PM Modi, the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Kuwait in 43 years, remarked on the long-standing relationship between the two countries. He noted that the ties are rooted in history, culture, and mutual respect. "India and Kuwait share multifaceted ties rooted in history, culture, and mutual respect. Our strong relations extend across energy, trade, and investments. We also have a vibrant Indian diaspora strengthening the friendship further," Modi shared in an interview with the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Trade and Commerce: PM Modi highlighted the importance of trade and commerce as pillars of the bilateral relationship. He noted the upswing in bilateral trade and the unique value added by the energy partnership. "Trade and commerce have been important pillars of our bilateral relationship. Our bilateral trade has been on an upswing. Our energy partnership adds a unique value to our bilateral trade," he said.

Strategic Partnership: He emphasized the deep-rooted and historic ties between India and Kuwait and the shared commitment to strengthening relations. He mentioned that both nations are poised to transform their traditional buyer-seller relationship into a strategic partnership by exploring opportunities across the entire oil and gas value chain.

Appreciation for Kuwaiti Leadership: The Prime Minister thanked Kuwait Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti government for their care and welfare of the Indian community living in Kuwait.

Community Engagement: On his arrival on Saturday, PM Modi met with the Indian community, addressing a large gathering at the "Hala Modi" event at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. He praised the Indian community's contribution to global growth and highlighted India's potential to become the "skill capital of the world." Later, he attended the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as the chief guest at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

This visit marks a significant step in enhancing the multifaceted relationship between India and Kuwait, with a focus on strategic partnerships and community welfare.
