Hezbollah has sent 2,000 fighters to the Qusayr region near the Lebanon-Syria border, according to a source close to the group. This strategic move aims to bolster Hezbollah's positions as Syrian rebels advance, having recently captured the major cities of Aleppo and Hama.

The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information, confirmed that while these fighters are currently defending positions, they have not yet engaged in combat with the Syrian rebels.

In addition to the fighters, Hezbollah has dispatched 150 military advisors to assist Syrian government forces in defending the city of Homs, should the need arise. Rebel forces are reportedly nearing the outskirts of this key central city, escalating the urgency for reinforced defenses.

This deployment comes as Damascus struggles to maintain control amid the ongoing rebel offensive that has rapidly seized significant urban territories.
