Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, has accused the Biden administration of dragging their feet on bringing NASA astronauts, including Sunita Williams, back to Earth. Williams and her crewmate, Butch Wilmore, have been up in space for eight months when they were originally supposed to be up there for just eight days. They were meant to return home using Boeing's Starliner, but when that didn’t work out, SpaceX stepped in to help.

Musk stated, "The astronauts were only supposed to be up there for 8 days and now have been there for 8 months. SpaceX could have sent up another Dragon and brought them home 6 months ago, but the Biden White House (not NASA) refused to allow it.

Elon Musk added that US President Donald Trump asked him to bring them back "as soon as possible" and he is doing so.

On the other hand, Wilmore denied any political influence on their return during a recent news conference, saying politics is just a part of life but didn’t affect their situation. Now, it looks like they’re only a few weeks away from coming home after nine months in space. Thanks to some changes with SpaceX’s capsules, their return date has been moved up a bit.

Therefore, Williams and Wilmore are set to come back after the Crew-10 launch from Kennedy Space Center on March 12. Once the new crew arrives, Crew-9 (which includes Williams, Wilmore, and their teammates) will head back home on a SpaceX Crew Dragon, landing off the coast of Florida.
