The tale of JioHotstar.com has taken an unexpected turn, now involving two young siblings from Dubai, Jainam and Jivika, as the new domain owners. Originally purchased by a Delhi-based app developer with the ambition of selling it to Reliance Industries for Rs 1 crore, the domain is now set for a different mission.

How JioHotstar.com Landed in New Hands

Earlier this year, a Delhi developer acquired JioHotstar.com, aiming to cash in on a potential Jio and Disney+ Hotstar merger. The developer, hoping to fund his Cambridge education, even wrote an open letter to Reliance proposing the sale. However, Reliance responded by rejecting the offer and warning of possible legal action over trademark infringement, leading the developer to take down his proposal. Amid rising media attention and family concerns, the developer's plan ultimately collapsed.

A New Vision: Charity-Led Ownership by Jainam and Jivika

The domain has since shifted focus from corporate aspirations to charitable goals. Jainam and Jivika, two Dubai-based siblings, now own JioHotstar.com and are using it to promote a cause dear to them: helping underprivileged children gain access to education and dream big.

The website now warmly welcomes visitors with a message from the siblings, expressing their belief in spreading kindness and positivity. Their journey to this mission started with a 50-day trip to India, where they connected with children from various backgrounds, sharing skills and inspiration.

Future Prospects and Speculation

With the domain's ownership changing, many online observers have been intrigued about its potential future. Some speculate that Reliance Industries might still show interest in the domain, though its estimated value has dropped to around Rs 10 lakh—a fraction of the developer's original asking price. Others suggest Reliance may opt for a new URL, such as Jiostar.com, rather than pursue JioHotstar.com.

Who Are Jainam and Jivika?

Jainam and Jivika have made a name for themselves as young content creators from Dubai, first gaining popularity through family-friendly unboxing videos on YouTube in 2017. Today, their content focuses on science, with future plans to launch a podcast, "TalkFM, Dubai Audio," featuring celebrity guests. Their goal with JioHotstar.com is to continue spreading positivity and kindness, a mission that aligns with their charitable new vision for the platform.
