Air India Launches Free In-Flight Wi-Fi: A New Year Gift for Passengers
Air India has surprised its passengers with a delightful New Year gift by launching complimentary Wi-Fi services on its domestic and international flights starting January 1, 2025. Initially available on Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft, this service marks Air India as the first Indian airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity.
According to Air India’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, Rajesh Dogra, staying connected has become an integral part of modern travel, whether for real-time sharing or work purposes. He is optimistic that this new feature will greatly enhance the travel experience for passengers.
Passengers can access the Wi-Fi service via laptops, tablets, and smartphones (iOS and Android) and connect multiple devices simultaneously once the aircraft reaches 10,000 feet. This generous gesture ensures passengers can enjoy the service at no cost during its initial launch phase.
Previously tested on international routes to destinations like New York, London, Paris, and Singapore, the Wi-Fi service is now expanding to domestic routes, with plans to extend it to more aircraft in the future. This connectivity allows Air India passengers to stay online, use social media, work, and communicate with family and friends while in the air—particularly beneficial for business travelers.
While Air India may consider introducing a fee for this service later, it remains complimentary for now, enhancing the overall flying experience for its customers.
