Mumbai, Feb 17: The 40,000 odd employees of state-run general insurance companies are likely to get their due wage revision in near future.

A source familiar with the development hoped that something may on this front may come during the next meeting to be held by the chief labour commissioner early next month.

Meanwhile, a GIEAIA (General insurance employees’ all India association) delegation representing Class 1, 3, and 4 employees, consisting of Comrade Trilok Singh, Arvind Pillai, Pradeep Sharma, Rajeev Man and Rajesh Sharma met Pawan Kumar Bansal, Ex state finance Minister, Ex Railway Minister and Ex-MP, Lok Sabha and senior most leader of Indian National Congress.

The delegation briefed him on key issues concerning PSGICs, including our strong opposition to the proposed 100 per cent FDI in the insurance sector and the merger and consolidation of PSGICs.

The GIEAIA delegation submitted a detailed memorandum requesting his intervention to take up these concerns with the Finance Minister .

Talking to Bizz Buzz, Trilok Singh, General Secretary, GIEAIA, says, “Our major demands include, immediate Wage Revision 14% Employees Contribution to NPS, Minimum 30% Family Pension and Merger of PSGICs (public sector general insurance companies).”

Moreover, we are opposing 100% FDI in the Insurance Sector, he said, adding that we also want adequate recruitment and strengthening of PSGICs, said Darshan Kumar Wadhwa, Secretary General, GIEAIA, Class I.

Bansal interacted with us and assured that he would effectively raise these concerns before the Finance Minister and to the Concerned authorities.
