All the unions and associations of state-run general insurers opposed the casual approach of DFS, GIPSA and the Finance Ministry on th issue of long pending wage revisions.

In the conciliation meeting before the chief labour commissioner on long pending wage revision, on 14 per cent employer contribution for NPS and minimum 30 per cent FPS, representatives of trade unions/associations, General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA) and department of financial services (DFS) officials participated in the meeting.

GIPSA officials and DFS officials updated the developments and referred to the meetings of various Associations with Ministry officials.

Talking to Bizz Buzz after the meeting, Trilok Singh, general secretary, General Insurance Employees All India Association (GIEAIA) says, “We lodged our strong protest on the casual and lethargic attitude of the GIPSA management and DFS officials on our justified demands despite better financial results by the public sector general insurance companies (PSGICs).”

We strongly reiterated our demand for parity to be maintained with LIC in the WR to be concluded within fixed timeframe. RLC (C) listened to our viewpoints in detail and advised DFS and GIPSA officials to ensure conclusion of the process in a time bound manner. He further advised DFS and GIPSA to give the timeline for settlement of the issues, he said.

It was agreed that DFS shall hold a meeting with GIPSA by first week of January to conclude on these issues.

It was also agreed that GIPSA shall hold a bilateral meeting with the Associations before the end of January point to point on the issues and Charter of demands.

RLC (Central) also advised the Associations to withdraw the strike call in view of the ongoing conciliation proceedings. Next date of conciliation meeting has been fixed as February 03. GIEAIA believes that the DFS &GIPSA management will

Honour the decision before the CLC, failing which we along with other unions and associations will be forced to go for series of action programs including Hunger strike, Parliament march and strike actions throughout the country, he added.
