GIEAIA holds sit-in dharna

Mumbai, Nov 12: A sit-in dharna was staged by General Insurance Employees All India Association (GIEAIA) son November 11 at the head offices, regional offices and various centres throughout the country on November 11.

The sit-in dharna before CMD OIC and General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA) chairman was successful, GIEAIA leaders in Delhi along with the Joint Forum of Trade Unions (JFTU) leadership addressed the gathering in the demonstration highlighting the ongoing struggles and appealing for support on key demands.

The demands include Wage revision and other benefits at par with LIC, 30 per cent family pension,14 per cent employer contribution in NPS, adequate recruitments and strengthening of PSGICs.

Trilok Singh, General Secretary, GIEAIA said, “JFTU leaders from various unions and associations addressed the lunch hour demonstration.”

GS Singh, convener JFTU Uttar Pradesh, also addressed the gathering.

GIPSA Chairman and Oriental Insurance CMD, RR Singh and Rekha Solanki, met the protesters and received JFTU's memorandum of demands. GIPSA Chairman and GM (P) addressed the protesters and assured that the memorandum would be forwarded to Department of Financial Services (DFS) with positive notes and they would put forth their sincere efforts and pursue the Demands of JFTU with DFS officials.
