VPA sets record in handling bauxite, manganese ore

Visakhapatnam Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has achieved the highest-ever tonnage record in handling manganese and bauxite in a calendar month (July-2023) by surpassing the previous records.
VPA handled a record throughput of 2.59 lakh tonnes bauxite from two ships by surpassing the previous record of 1.81 lakh tonnes from four vessels in September, 2016.
According to a release, VPA also created another record in July-2023 in handling manganese by surpassing the previous record. VPA handled a record throughput of 3.66 lakh tonnes manganese ore from 12 vessels in last month by surpassing the previous record of 3.60 lakh tonnes from 13 ships in May, last year.
Meanwhile, Chairperson Dr M Angamuthu appreciated B Ratna Sekhara Rao, Traffic Manager and his team in achieving the new record. He also advised the port employees to do team work to scale new heights.
Durgesh Kumar Dubey, Deputy Chairperson and T Venu Gopal, Secretary, VPA also conveyed best wishes to the traffic wing for the achievement.
