India to allocate satellite internet spectrum through administrative process

India has decided to allocate spectrum for satellite internet via an administrative process rather than through an auction, as announced by Telecommunications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday.

This decision comes in the wake of appeals from leading telecom operators in India, including Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, who had advocated for an auction-based approach similar to that used for the telecom sector.
