We ultimately aim to onboard around 1,000 engineers. We are also considering extending our operations to tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India - Venkat Chundi, CEO, Centillion Networks

Hyderabad: Centillion Networks Pvt Ltd, established in 2007 as a small telecom construction firm with just four employees, has undergone remarkable growth to become a global player in telecom engineering. What started as a telecom services provider for industry giants like Power Grid Corporation, TS Transco and AP Transco, has now expanded into a robust organisation with a workforce of nearly 1,800 engineers across nine countries, including the US, UK, Australia, and Poland.

In an exclusive conversation with Bizz Buzz, the company’s Founder and CEO Venkat Chundi elaborated on the company’s significant milestones and future plans. “We’ve come a long way since our founding,” he said. “In 2014, we branched out into engineering services, and since then, we’ve grown exponentially, with operations in countries as diverse as the US, the UK, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia. We’ve even acquired a majority stake in Neoplace Singapore, expanding our footprint in Southeast Asia.”

Alongside this expansion, Centillion launched HC Robotics, a spin-off venture focused on cutting-edge research and development in telecom engineering. HC Robotics, co-founded by Venkat and his wife, specializes in innovative technologies like LiDAR, drones, and robotic systems, with applications spanning telecom and defense sectors.

“Our mission at HC Robotics is to develop and deliver products that revolutionize industries. Our mobile LiDAR system, for instance, is used by telecom companies to gather 360-degree imagery and point cloud data, and we’ve already gathered 18,000 miles of road data across the US,” Venkat explained. “Additionally, we design gyro stabilized gimbal cameras for defence applications, and we manufacture drones used by the Indian Army, Navy, and police forces, among others.”

What sets HC Robotics apart, according to Venkat, is its focus on in-house design and manufacturing. “Unlike many drone companies that rely on imported parts, we produce all our components ourselves- flight controllers, GPS systems, power distribution boards- and provide them at competitive prices with superior quality and after-sales support.”

Centillion’s success isn’t limited to its technological innovations. The company has established a significant presence in key Indian cities, including Hyderabad, Vizag, and Karimnagar. Its recruitment strategy focuses on a diverse talent pool, seeking candidates with expertise in AutoCAD for engineering roles and C++ and Python for robotics.

Looking ahead, Venkat emphasized Centillion’s ambitious plans for expansion. “The telecom sector, particularly in the US, is growing rapidly, and we are poised to ride that wave. We plan to recruit between 500 and 750 engineers in 2025 and ultimately aim to onboard around 1,000 engineers. We are also considering extending our operations to tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India.”

Centillion’s success and rapid growth highlight India’s rising prominence as a hub for tech and telecom professionals.
