Tech Innovation Support Centre files over 220 patents

Visakhapatnam: IN addition to commercialisation of technology transfer, the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) in collaboration with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation), Technology Innovation Support Centre (TISC) and Intellectual Property Facilitation Center (IPFC) located in Visakhapatnam has filed over 220 patents.

Regional manager of NRDC BK Sahu told Bizz Buzz on Wednesday that they have been playing an important role to develop and commercialise the technologies/know-how /inventions/IP/processes emanating from various national R&D institutions/universities to industries. NRDC-TISC, Vishakhapatnam was established on February 25, 2018.

He said they have been getting very good support from AP Innovation Society (APIS) for inculcating awareness on patenting of various innovations. NRDC-TISC has so far collaborated for as many as more than 40 memoranda of agreements/memoranda of understandings with various universities/public sector undertakings and R&D Institutes/government entities and other renowned organisations and

provided IPR facilitations, consultancy and technology transfer services. ndate is to encourage patent culture," Sahu said.

The centre has transferred and commercialised over 35 innovative technologies and around 12 are in the pipeline to various industries, MSMEs and startups.

It has facilitated and filed over 220 patents, registered over 85 trademarks, 10 copyrights, 25 industrial designs and is working on a few GIs in association with several universities, government institutes and associations.

The centre has organised over 20 national and international workshops on IPR and innovation management and reached out to all the stakeholders in collaboration with WIPO, European Patent Office (EPO), Intellectual Property Office (IPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Cell for IP Promotion and Management (CIPAM), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and others.
