SmartBike bags award for bike-sharing system

City- based SmartBike, a Public Bike Sharing (PBS) company has been awarded the first prize under Mobility Category, by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, at the Smart Cities Conclave and Expo, at Indore. The company implements and operates the Chandigarh Public Bike Sharing System.
The President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Anindita Mitra, CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. Among the 100 Smart Cities in India with public bike sharing, Chandigarh Public Bike Sharing System cornered the recognition.
“The PBS system operated by SmartBike has been appreciated. SmartBike will be launching its full-fledged operations in Hyderabad soon. We have won the Tender by Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited for Setting up, Operating and Managing of Bicycle Sharing on the Cycling Track adjoining the ORR from Nanakramguda to TSPA and Narsingi to Kollur. SmartBike will be deploying its Electric smart bikes along with its regular smart bikes,” SmartBike said in a statement. The India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC), an annual affair is organised to recognise and reward exemplary work done under the Smart Cities Mission. SmartBike had won the exclusive mandate in 2020 for setting up and operating Public Bike Sharing in Chandigarh with a total of 5,000 SmartBikes at 617 bike stations in four Phases.
