Coal transportation and OB removal increased by 75% and 26% respectively

Hyderabad Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has recorded spectacular growth in the first half of this financial year (H1). When compared to the corresponding period last fiscal, its coal production, transportation and removal of overburden (OB) increased by 65 per cent, 75 per cent and 26 per cent respectively during April-September period.

SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar said, "In the same way, the company is expected to record good growth in the second half of the fiscal year also, surpassing the target of 700 lakh tonnes set for this financial year and crossing the new milestone in the history of Singareni."

Singareni has shipped 313 lakh tonnes of coal in H1 of FY 22, while it has shipped 179 lakh tonnes during the same period previous fiscal year. Similarly, it has produced 299 lakh tonnes of coal in H1 of FY 22, against 181 lakh tones during the corresponding period a year ago. It has removed OB of 166 million cubic metres in H1 FY 22 when compared to 132 million cubic metres in the same period last fiscal 2020-21.

Despite heavy rains in September, the company has recorded higher growth in production and transportation over the same month last year due to special measures taken by the Singareni management.

Singareni's coal production surged up 36 per cent at 45.4 lakh tonnes in September this year against 33.4 lakh tonnes in the same month last year. The company's coal shipments increased 24.6 per cent to 45.8 lakh tonnes in this September over 36.8 lakh tonnes in the same month last year. It has removed 25.6 million cubic meters of OB, up 29 per cent from 19.8 million cubic meters in same month last year.
