RINL gets highest number of energy saving certificates

RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant complied PAT (Perform, Achieve and Trade) 2nd cycle energy targets set by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Ministry of Power and secured the highest number of energy saving certificates in the iron and steel sector in India.

Visakhapatnam: RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant complied PAT (Perform, Achieve and Trade) 2nd cycle energy targets set by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Ministry of Power and secured the highest number of energy saving certificates in the iron and steel sector in India. DK Mohanty, CMD (additional charge) received 1.29 lakh energy saving certificates (EScerts) from Alok Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Power on virtual platform in the presence of AK Saxena, Director (Operations).

He later congratulated RINL collective for this stupendous and one of its kind achievement in the iron and steel sector and directed them to take further measures to reduce energy consumption. RINL reduced PAT SEC target by more than 4.72 per cent in PAT 2nd cycle (2016-19) by implementing various energy conservation measures such as installation of condensing turbine (COB 5) in Battery-5 to utilise waste energy from cooling of coke, commissioning of top pressure recovery turbine in Blast Furnace-3, installation of Pulverized Coal Injection in all blast furnaces and replacement of burners in ignition hood of Sinter Machine-1, according to a release.
