UAC gives clearance to Gland Pharma in Vizag to make anti-cancer injections

Visakhapatnam The Unit Advisory Committee of Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone has accorded approval for various units including a firm to make anti-cancer injections at Duvvada here.
The committee which initially ratified the approvals given to Dr Reddy's Lab, for making of 10.5 lakh Remdesivir vials, said the product will come into markets in August, and later cleared the proposals for making anti-cancer drug "Eribulin Mesylate" injection with annual capacity of 1.28 lakh vials from Duvvada unit of Gland Pharma.
The company will in turn earn an additional net foreign exchange (NFE) to the tune of Rs.5 crore per annum. Similarly, UAC has approved M/s Constel Manufacturing, to go in for making of jewellery by sourcing raw material at Duvvada, which is now basically into "Laser cutting & polishing of synthetic or laboratory grown diamonds and will earn an additional NFE of Rs 2.75 crore.
The UAC chaired by the Development Commissioner of VSEZ A. Rama Mohan Reddy, convened a WebEx meeting for the SEZs for Andhra Pradesh at the Administrative Building at Duvvada, which was attended by the members of UAC from AP, besides Joint Director General Foreign Trade, officials from Drugs Drepartment, Joint Development Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners of VSEZ and others.
Reddy said said the UAC had also accorded approval to M/s Salora Active Pharma Sciences at AP SEZ, Atchutapuram for making of intermediates of Favipiravir, Uridine intermediate of Molnufiravir of 8,000 kgs/month to M/s Laurus Labs, Atchutapuram-both important Covid drugs.
It also approved making of Fluticasone Nasal Spray and Prednisone tablets of various dosages, in favour of Dr Reddy's, Srikakulam Amphotericin Bulk, an API in favour of M/s Hetero, Fosravuconazole L Lysine Ethanolate, both antifungal medicines, besides various other intermediates to M/s Aragen Life Sciences Pvt Ltd., in Ramky Pharma City for 1 MT. UAC has approved, Divis Laboratories Ltd to go in for making of Sacubitril Valsartan Sodium Hydrate, a drug to be used in stroke patients.
Reddy said that during 2020-21, the exports made from VSEZ, were to the tune of Rs 1,13, 975 crore and recorded an increase in exports of 14.05% so far. Though the merchandise sector has recorded a growth of 22%, up to May, 2021 but the present lockdown has hindered the exports from services sector during the current year.
