Hyderabad: A Chinese millionaire withdrew a huge amount of his savings and asked the bank staff to count them note by note after getting enraged by a security guard who asked him to wear a face mask.
The man, known as 'Sunwear' on Chinese social media platform Weibo, withdrew 5 million yuan (Rs 5.8 crore) in banknotes from a branch of the Bank of Shanghai. The sum is the maximum amount of cash one can withdraw. The millionaire said that he plans to go back to the bank every day until he removes all his savings, with the bank staff having to count it by hand each time.
The millionaire accused the bank staff of having 'the worst of attitude' in their treatment of him. However, he did not mention what happened. The millionaire said, 'Because of this attitude, I can only withdraw all the money and put it in other banks. it was necessary to request them to count the cash in case it fell short.' He further added that it took two bank workers two hours to prepare his cash withdrawal with a single currency counter.
Photos of the millionaire loading banknotes into suitcases and taking them in his luxury car have gone viral. Meanwhile, the bank has insisted that a security guard asked him to wear a face mask. It stated that no staff member broke any customer service guidelines. "The client's (complaint suggested) he had higher expectations of financial services," the bank said.
It is not clear if the millionaire returned to withdraw the rest of his money later.
