Kris Gopalakrishnan invests Rs 113 crore in Bengaluru properties

Hyderabad: AFTER IT services and startups, it seems Kris Gopalakrishnan's interests shifted towards real estate sector. Infosys co-founder has recently purchased two properties for Rs 76 crore at prime locations in Bengaluru.
He also bought two properties at another posh area in Silicon Valley of India during the last year. The property purchases together amount to more than Rs 113 crore.
According to reports, he has acquired these properties as part of his investments. As per the documents, a property measuring 10,161.8 sq ft, including a 3,347-sq ft building on ground floor and a 2,439-sq ft building on the first floor, located in Koramangala Third Block Extension, Bengaluru was registered on June 24, 2021. The value of this property is Rs 40 crore.
The buyer of this property is SGK Investment Trust, an entity that manages Gopalakrishnan's investments while Bikaner House Ltd is the seller.
Based on the documents, the trust was represented by an authorised signatory namely KC Ganesh. Earlier in April 2021, the trust has purchased 9,600 sq ft property for Rs 36 crore in the same area from seller Joseph Thomas.
In February 2021, SGK Investment Trust has purchased 9,600 sq ft residential plot at JP Nagar in Bengaluru for Rs 19.15 crore. In August 2020, the trust bought another 9,600 sq ft property in the same area for Rs 18.25 crore.
Nandan Nilekani, another co-founder of Infosys, also bought a property in Koramangala Third Block Extension, which is called as Billionaire's Paradise.
Gopalakrishnan served as Infosys' Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director from 2007 to 2011, and as vice chairman from 2011 to 2014. Following his retirement from Infosys, he has been active in promoting the Indian startup ecosystem, and philanthropically supporting research on brain sciences, aging related disorders, and healthcare.
At present, the 66-year old IT veteran is Chairman of an early stage startup accelerator and venture fund – Axilor Ventures and a not-for-profit think-tank focused on the evolution of technology domains in India – itihaasa Research and Digital.
He also serves on the Board of Governors of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology and is the Chairman, Board of Governors of IIIT - Bangalore.
