Amaravati: Minister for IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh has successfully piloted allotment of 21.16 acres in Visakhapatnam for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for 99 paisa and justified the decision, which he says will be a game-changer.

Earlier, the Cabinet meeting held at Velagapudi Secretariat unanimously approved the allotment of this 21.16 acres to TCS for their facility. Lokesh visited Tata House in October last year and made a strong pitch for TCS to set up a large development centre in Andhra Pradesh. The company will invest Rs1,370 crore.

With continuous follow-ups and discussions between the State Government and the TCS, Lokesh was successful in the land allotment to the TCS. It is a bold decision to signal to the industry that Andhra Pradesh is serious about attracting IT investments. In the past, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken Tata Motors to Sanand in Gujarat by allotting land to them at 99 paisa. This marked a landmark moment for the auto industry in Gujarat, officials in the IT Department said.
