HSL to foray into high speed boat construction
Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), which is under the control of Ministry of Defence, has entered into a tripartite MoU with Eker Group (Norway) and Vaan Moto to explore future business in the field of manufacturing high speed boats for accelerating business growth.

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), which is under the control of Ministry of Defence, has entered into a tripartite MoU with Eker Group (Norway) and Vaan Moto to explore future business in the field of manufacturing high speed boats for accelerating business growth.
The MoU envisages constructing high-end boats with smart, flexible solutions and superior maneuverability to operate from shore upto maximum speed of 75 knots. These boats with a complement of four crew and four passengers are equipped with navigation & communication equipment.
These high-end platforms can easily adapt to the roles of search & rescue, surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, mine countermeasures, ambulance, fire, harbor control & close protection.
Eker is a reputed Norwegian company which designs, constructs and sells ferries, leisure boats and professional boats, especially suitable for defence and law enforcement. Vaan is an Indian private limited startup involved in the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles and their engines, brakes, gear boxes, axles, road wheels and suspension.
HSL is collaborating with the Eker Group as well as the upcoming Indian Startup Vaan Moto for manufacturing the high-speed boats in India under Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. CMD of HSL Commodore Hemant Khatri highlighted that this will enhance the potential and technical capabilities of HSL as well as of the country by getting the smart high-speed boats.
