HSL delivers 50 tonne bollard pull tug to Navy
Hindustan Shipyard Ltd, a Ministry of Defence Enterprise, delivered the third of the four 50 tonne bollard pull tug ( Balraj) to the Indian Navy on Friday with one each delivered to Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and ND-Visakhapatnam on October 22 and October 21 respectively.

Visakhapatnam Hindustan Shipyard Ltd, a Ministry of Defence Enterprise, delivered the third of the four 50 tonne bollard pull tug ( Balraj) to the Indian Navy on Friday with one each delivered to Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and ND-Visakhapatnam on October 22 and October 21 respectively.
The tug is the 199th vessel built and delivered by HSL-India's premier shipyard set up in Visakhapatnam in 1941. The fourth tug of the series is also ready for delivery and with this delivery in January, 2022, HSL will achieve a milestone of 200th vessel built since its inception.
The tug has been completely designed and built by HSL, which is capable of producing 50 tonne bollard pull and can achieve a speed of upto12 knots. During the first sea trials itself, the ship proved her capabilities and achieved performance greater than the contractual requirements.
Tug Balraj has been delivered on schedule despite COVID-19 pandemic situations, and with nil pending observations from the owner and class. Indian Navy for extending their support for successful completion of the project on time.
