Blinkit launches 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram, plans nationwide expansion
Blinkit has made a groundbreaking entry into the healthcare sector with the launch of its 10-minute ambulance service in select areas of Gurugram. This initiative, announced on Thursday, marks the quick-commerce platform’s commitment to addressing critical urban healthcare challenges.
“We are taking our first step towards providing quick and reliable ambulance services in our cities,” said Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa in a post on X. The service currently operates with five ambulances equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) systems, available for booking through the Blinkit app.
While the exact charges for the service have not been disclosed, Dhindsa emphasized that it is not profit-driven. "Our goal is to offer this service at an affordable cost, truly solving this critical problem for the long term," he stated.
The ambulances are fully outfitted with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each vehicle is staffed with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure high-quality care during emergencies.
Dhindsa highlighted the careful scaling of this service, noting its importance and novelty to the company. Blinkit aims to expand this initiative to all major cities over the next two years, providing a much-needed solution to urban healthcare emergencies.
