GMR Varalakshmi Care Hospital completes a decade in Rajam
GMR Varalakshmi CARE Hospital, a wing of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation - the CSR arm of the GMR group, marked its 10th anniversary on Friday. The multi-specialty hospital is known for providing affordable and comprehensive healthcare services to the people of both Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts under one roof.

Hyderabad: GMR Varalakshmi CARE Hospital, a wing of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation - the CSR arm of the GMR group, marked its 10th anniversary on Friday. The multi-specialty hospital is known for providing affordable and comprehensive healthcare services to the people of both Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts under one roof.
Located in Rajam, a small town in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, the 200-bedded hospital, spread over 25 acres campus, was inaugurated on 2nd April 2011 by former President Pranab Mukherjee, who was then minister of finance, and the then Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy. The NABH-accredited hospital, offers services in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neonatology and Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Dental, ENT, Critical Care, Nephrology, and Ophthalmology.
To mark its decade-long journey in rendering service to the society, the Hospital would provide free of cost Patient Concession Card (PCC) to 25,000 families. Using it, five members of a beneficiary family can avail free OPD consultation, concession on investigations and concession for surgery charges.
Since its inception, over 7 lakh people availed of its Out-Patient services, while 55,000 patients availed of In-Patient services. The hospital, with its three well-equipped and laminar flow operation theatres, has performed over 30,000 successful surgeries, including over 2,000 laparoscopic surgeries.
During the pandemic, the hospital, affiliated to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), conducted rapid antigen tests. It successfully counselled Covid-19 positive patients and offered treatment to people infected with Corona virus. The hospital has been identified as a Covid-19 vaccination centre for the town and nearby areas by the government.
Apart from these, the hospital has successfully handled over 5,000 trauma cases, served over 8 Lakh prescriptions in pharmacy, screened 3 lakh patients in Radiology department and 4.5 Lakh plus patients in Laboratory services.
