Mumbai: Mahima Saini unveiled her own label 'Frillies' during a fashion show recently. Her collection is an ode to Neeraj Chopra, a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, who is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the recent Olympics.
India Luxury Foundation had hosted Jashn Exhibition in New Delhi on August 28 which was a platform for new talent of fashion industry to showcase their work along with some renowned designers like Rina Dhaka, Pallavi Singh, Charu Parashar, Samrat Chauhan and Ashima Leena.
Presenting the collection in front of important personalities like the
Ambassador of The Republic of Costa Rica, Claudio Ansorena and Ambassador of Paraguay, Fleming Duarte was a great achievement. In addition, receiving the certificate and appreciation by Rina Dhaka and Sonalika Sahay on stage was another benefit the new designers got on this platform.
Among others, Mahima Saini, a fashion student, a newbie stepping into the fashion world, with her own label 'Frillies' has showcased her first collection which is an ode to Subedar Neeraj Chopra who earned our nation an Olympic gold after decades of yearning and to all Army folks whose blood and sweat has kept us safe and sane through the tough times and beyond.
'Frillies' is born to experiment with new cuts and fluid shapes while cueing the right balance of sophistication and glamour. Crafted for the urban women who are out and about in this world taking her own decision and standing by it. 'Frillies' is truly inspired by the contemporary and futuristic concept of design while keeping the trend wagon in check and at the same time documenting the spirit of the time. The collection reflects love of designer for print art, embroideries and embellishments furnished upon sustainable fabrics set in vibrant pallets.
Talking to Bizz Buzz, Mahima said, "Being the youngest designer participating in Jash Exhibition and showcasing my first collection among other renowned experienced designers was a dream coming true.
Though I was little nervous, deep inside I was sure that everyone
would love my collection because of the uniqueness of designs. I'm really glad that my family was with me all the time. Designer – Rina Dhaka, Mridula Sangal - Directors of JD institute of Fashion
Technology, Ambassadors from Embassy of Paraguay and Embassy of Costo Rica, they all just loved my collection. So my 1st step towards my dream was successful".
Sharing her future plans, she says, "I want to make my label Frillies Enterprises a big brand which will focus on contemporary and futuristic concept of design. Apart from focusing on my label I want to pursue personal celebrity styling because I feel every walk is a ramp walk and you must be ready for that every second."
