ONGC, TPREL Sign MoU for Battery Energy Storage Systems
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore new opportunities in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sector.
The partnership will focus on several areas including large-scale energy storage systems, grid stabilisation, renewable energy integration, hybrid energy solutions, industrial and commercial storage applications, microgrids, backup power solutions, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman and CEO, ONGC said, “As India transitions towards a sustainable energy future, ONGC remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing clean energy initiatives.”
Singh added, the collaboration with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited is a stepping stone to strengthen energy storage capabilities, which are in turn vital for adoption for renewable energy.
“By leveraging our collective expertise, we aim to contribute meaningfully to India's energy transition and long-term energy security,” Singh mentioned.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO & Managing Director, TPREL said, “Battery Energy Storage Systems will play a crucial role in strengthening grid reliability, enabling greater renewable energy integration, and supporting India's ambitious clean energy goals.”
Nanded added that together with ONGC we are set to develop innovative storage solutions, which will set the tone for a sustainable and resilient energy future.
Notably, TPREL commissioned India’s largest Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project
