EESL CEO asks officials to speed up energy efficiency movement
Exhorts senior officials to place EESL at the forefront of the global stage, striving to fulfill the govt’s vision of making India a paragon of energy efficiency in all sectors

Vijayawada After signing MoUs worth Rs 700 crore at the crucial G20 meeting held in Goa recently, Vishal Kapoor, CEO of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has called upon senior officials of the organisation from all States to embark on a mission to accelerate India’s energy efficiency movement.
He exhorted them to place EESL at the forefront of the global stage, striving to fulfill the government’s vision of making India a paragon of energy efficiency in all sectors. The theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” chosen by India at the G20 Summit resonates
deeply with his appeal. EESL is a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power.
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision on achieving a decarbonised economy, he urged officials to march forward with firm dedication to make a major headway by reducing the carbon footprint.
Kapoor at the review elaborated on EESL’s significant contributions including avoiding peak demand of 12 giga watts resulting in savings of a whopping Rs 96,000 crore for the entire country. Each year, EESL’s interventions are likely to lead to savings of Rs 20,000 crore.
EESL's pioneering work in lighting revolutionised India’s energy landscape, introducing LED bulbs that save up to 90 per cent electricity compared to traditional tungsten bulbs.
According to Animesh Mishra, Chief General Manager (Corporate Communications), EESL, among the 15 MoUs exchanged during the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) meeting, a standout alliance was formed with the Andhra Pradesh State Housing Company Limited (APSHCL). Under this partnership, EESL will provide energy-efficient appliances to APSHCL for facilitating to beneficiaries residing in Jagananna Colonies as part of the esteemed GOI Program of PMAY and Navaratnalu PedalandarikiIllu (NPI) scheme of AP.
One of the other important MoUs was EESL's strategic partnership with Loughborough University, UK, under the Modern Energy Cooking Service (MECS) program, aiming to drive large-scale promotion and deployment of electric cooking in India.
