Darwin Platform to sell EV 2-wheelers from Dec
Invests nearly Rs 450 cr in the transformation and takes a comprehensive approach

Mumbai: Darwin Platform Group of Companies (DPGC) embarked on a new journey with the next generation battery-powered two-wheelers in electric vehicles (EVs) sector. Darwin EVAT - a green venture of DPGC has announced its three exquisite models of electric two-wheelers, Darwin- D5, D- 7, and D-14 are ready to hit the pan India market by this year-end (December 2022). The company initially invested nearly Rs 450 crore in this transformation and is taking a comprehensive approach, ranging from research and development to production of green vehicles, which also includes strategic collaborations and partnerships.
With a pan India sales network, Darwin EVAT would make available superior quality vehicles at affordable prices. Darwin D-5, D- 7 and D-14 EVAT scooters were priced aggressively to catch up with its competitors. The beginning of 2023 would be Darwin EVAT making competitive presence in 2-wheelers EV market in the country.
Talking to Bizz Buzz, Dr Raja Roy Choudhury, CEO, DPGC, says: "DarwinPlatform products are developed with Japanese technology under 'Make in India' programme. We intend to provide safest and affordable premium products with low customer liability. The vehicles come withthe most advance features like keyless entry, digital cluster, real-time indicator and much more. We are entering into high-speed segment very shortly and subsequently four-wheeler as well."
Darwin Platform, with vision to reach the last man of India, is aggressively developing its sales and after-sales network on pan India level. Considering the promising response of the market, we are confident that Darwin will have a noticeable market share in CY 2023, he said.
The Darwin EVAT has been receiving a promising response from autodealers across the country as they see a huge demand for vehicles with Japanese technology and have high mileage efficiency at affordableprice. With the 'Charge and Go' maxim, these two-wheeler EVs- Darwin-D-5, D- 7, and D-14 provide the young generation a new experience withseveral exciting features including trendy muscular design, mileage efficiency, keyless entry, speed control gear, battery swapping, and digital cluster among others.
"Now we are focusing more on our marketing and sales networks. The automobile industry is undergoing an electric revolution, and Darwin EVAT would enormously contribute with its premium vehicles." The growing demand for electric mobility in Indian market can bewitnessed with the retail numbers of electric two wheelers, announced in H1 2022.
EV two-wheeler is the most affordable form of commute. CY 2021 has marked retail number of 1.22 lakh units of EV two-wheelers whereas the first half of 2022 has recorded remarkable sale of 2.4 lakh units which is approximately 210 per cent compare to the previous year. With this number, EV two-wheeler contributes to 3.6 per cent of overall two-wheeler sale of first half of CY 2022.
