CII hails AP's new IT Policy

Visakhapatnam Confederation of Indian Industry, Andhra Pradesh chapter has welcomed Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Policy 2021-24 which was released recently.

As part of policy consultations with industry, CII asked the government to cut down complexity for the industry in moving from the initial planning phase to operationalisation phase by bringing various reforms in land allotment, incentives approval, provision of infrastructure, permissions for commencement of operations and processing of incentive claims.

In fact, new policy has given adequate thrust on infrastructure, development, approval reforms with focus on concept cities, CII said in a statement.

Datla Tirupathi Raju, chairman, CII AP & Executive Chairman, Vijaynagar Biotech Pvt ltd said that establishment of IT Technologies Research University in Visakhapatnam would buildup required ecosystem for the Industry 4.0 technologies and create new opportunities for youth.

The new policy has given ample scope for IT industry for having partnership with universities to promote niche and emerging technologies such as cloud, blockchain, IOT, cybersecurity and data analytics in the coming days, he said.

Comprehensive Investment Portal to handle all project applications, permissions will help the companies to invest in the State, he felt. The new policy has also given scope for work from home which is fast emerging as a trend in IT sector-a major boost for PP youth.

G. Murali Krishna, convenor, CII AP IT & Electronics Panel said that IT policy announced by the AP recently is a welcome move of incentivising companies for employment generation including work from home and gig workers. This well thoughtout move in consultation with IT industry would not only help the IT companies and IT professionals affected by the pandemic, but also immensely benefit the local economy through direct and indirect employment.

"We look forward to the setting up of IT and emerging technologies research university in Vizag, in which we will like to play a role by promoting research and skill development in smart grid, smart cities and intelligent infrastructure related technology solutions," he opined.
