Visakhapatnam: Asking the YSRCP government to immediately release reports submitted by Special Investigation Teams (SITs) set up by erstwhile TDP and present dispensation, BJP has threatened agitation if cases registered under Section 22A of Registration Act, 1908 are not disposed of in a time-bound manner.
Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan on a memorandum received by BJP national spokesman and MP GVL Narasimha Rao on October 11 directed the government to take action on 22A cases and avoid harassment of innocent people.
Rao and BJP State president Somu Veeraju told reporters here on Sunday that the government set up special committees on October 19 to speed up disposal of 22A cases in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati based on Governor's directive.
They said their party is getting ready to take cudgels against 22A mafia, which is keen to collect huge amounts from all by promising removal from curbs on sale of lands and properties under 22A.
Stating that several big wigs including IAS officers and politicians are involved in grabbing government lands in Visakhapatnam, they said to allow them to go scot-free the SIT reports have been kept in the cold storage.
According to some reports, at least eight IAS officers who served as Collectors and Joint Collector are involved in irregular permission granted to land sharks for development of layouts in assigned lands and those allotted to freedom fighters and others. To a question, they said the BJP and Jana Sena Party alliance is intact and they have no plans to contest in alliance with TDP in 2024 elections.
They also criticised YSRCP for staking claim over Central projects and claimed that almost all the projects under implementation in Visakhapatnam are funded by the government of India.
BJP State vice-president N Vishnu Kumar Raju, who was also present, criticised the destruction of hills at sea-facing Rushikonda and alleged that the Chief Minister should not use picturesque locales for administration purposes.
