Mumbai, June 12: India’s leading aerospace company Kadet Defence Systems (KDS) has announced the successful launch of Jet-Powered Aerial Targets. It is the 1st (first) Indian aerospace company to design and develop indigenous jet-powered aerial targets, which have been also exported to foreign friendly countries. These advanced Jet-Powered aerial targets are crucial for military training and evaluation, marking a significant leap in atmanirbhar defence technology.

KDS’ jet-powered aerial targets are designed to travel at a speed exceeding 500 kilometers per hour with an extensive flight range of 300 kilometers from the point of launch and can reach altitudes more than 6,000 meters. With low observable radar cross section and swarming capabilities these targets serve as essential training aids and evaluation tools for armed forces and defence agencies, supporting the development and testing of weapons systems, shoulder-fired missiles, guns and artillery systems. Additionally other applications include use as high-speed decoys and CUAS.

In recent years, there has been an upward trend in the demand for aerial targets within defense applications. These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are playing an increasingly critical role in military training, testing, and evaluation. With advanced capabilities and realistic simulation features, aerial targets enable armed forces to enhance their readiness and effectiveness in combat scenarios.

Aerial Targets are utilized for a variety of purposes, including target practice, weapon testing, and tactical training exercises. Their ability to mimic enemy aircraft and perform complex maneuvers provides invaluable training opportunities for military personnel across all branches. Additionally, aerial targets offer a cost-effective and safer alternative to using manned aircraft in training scenarios.

As defense agencies worldwide prioritize modernization and innovation, the demand for aerial targets is expected to continue growing. Advancements in technology, such as autonomous flight capabilities and sophisticated sensor systems, are further driving the adoption of these unmanned platforms in defense applications.

For the first time in India’s defence technology history, jet-powered aerial targets are being designed and manufactured in the country by a private company. Earlier, these used to be imported from various countries. Kadet Defence Systems is poised to supply these sophisticated targets domestically to the Indian armed forces and also export to foreign friendly nations. In another first, KDS has already exported these jet-powered aerial targets to a friendly foreign country in Southeast Asia, where they are currently in active service. This export was made possible through an authorization of the Government of India.

"We are proud to be the first Indian company to design, develop, and export jet-powered aerial targets. This achievement is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in defence technology. Our jet-powered aerial targets will significantly enhance the training and evaluation capabilities of the armed forces, both in India and abroad. We look forward to continuing our work in providing world-class defence solutions," said Avdhesh Khaitan, CEO, Kadet Defence Systems. He further added, “Kadet Defence Systems remains committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions to meet the evolving needs of the defence sector.”

This groundbreaking development positions KDS as a key player in the global defence sector. It is a true testament to India’s mantra of Atmanirbhar Bharat and demonstrates the country’s growing capabilities in advanced defence technology. The company's success not only boosts national defence capabilities but also showcases the potential for Indian companies to compete internationally.

With several key weapon development programs being undertaken by DRDO and Private Players, the availability of an indigenous solution for evaluation of the weapon system during design, development and user trials holds significant importance by cutting down on costs and ensuring data security of test results.

Established in 2011, Kadet Defence Systems has cemented its position as a premier provider of
