Delta Airlines plane crash-lands in Toronto amid fiery flip—passengers survive

A Delta Airlines flight carrying 80 people, including 76 passengers and four crew members, crash-landed at Toronto’s Pearson Airport in a dramatic accident caught on video. The aircraft, which had departed from Minneapolis, encountered severe weather conditions, with winds gusting up to 40 mph (65 kph), causing it to swirl uncontrollably across the runway.

As the plane attempted to land, it veered off course and flipped onto its roof, as seen in widely shared social media footage. Despite the terrifying ordeal, all passengers survived, though 18 were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to airport officials.
Passengers Recall Terrifying Moments
Peter Carlson, a passenger on board, described the landing as “very forceful.” He recounted, “All of a sudden, everything just kind of went sideways, and then next thing I know, it’s kind of a blink and I’m upside down, still strapped in."
Another passenger, Pete Kukov, said he didn’t realize anything was wrong until impact. “We hit the ground, the plane had turned over, and we were hanging upside down like bats. I consider myself lucky and fortunate. I didn’t know the person I was sitting next to, but I got a chance to hug him.”
Airport Officials React
Deborah Flint, CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, confirmed that while the incident was serious, the injuries sustained were relatively minor. “We are very grateful there was no loss of life,” she said.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, while passengers recover from the harrowing experience.
