220 Flights Affected by Dense Fog Over Delhi-NCR, Rain Forecast
A thick blanket of fog has enveloped Delhi-NCR, severely disrupting airline operations and vehicle traffic. The dense fog has affected over 220 flights, with several others delayed or canceled.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the fog is expected to persist throughout the day, with visibility improving slightly by evening. However, the IMD has also forecasted thunderstorms with rain on Saturday and has also issued a yellow warning for the national capital, advising residents to take necessary precautions.
However, the lowest temperature in Delhi rose little on Friday morning, hitting 8°C, owing to an active western disturbance. The temperature was 6 degrees Celsius on Friday.
Disrupted Transportation Operations
The dense fog has severely impacted flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), with over 220 flights delayed or cancelled. Airlines have advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Furthermore, 45 trains were also delayed on Saturday due to the extreme weather, which included dense fog.
