The Mahindra XUV700 has long dominated the premium 7-seater SUV segment, facing little competition. While the Kia Carens has been around, it hasn’t quite matched the XUV700’s appeal. However, that might soon change! Kia is working on an all-new 7-seater model, expected to make waves in the Indian market. Let’s dive into what the upcoming Kia 7-seater has in store!
Upcoming Kia 7-Seater – What’s New? Spy shots of the heavily camouflaged new Kia 7-seater suggest that the SUV is almost production-ready. Unlike the existing Carens, this upcoming model could debut with a fresh nameplate. Kia has set its launch for June 2025, with pricing expected to be higher than the current Carens, which will continue to be available in the market.
Redesigned Looks and Upgraded FeaturesThe new Kia 7-seater is set for a complete design overhaul. Expect stylish new alloy wheels, revised roof rails, and refreshed LED headlamps and taillamps. The exterior and interior are likely to boast a more premium finish. Feature-wise, the SUV might come equipped with a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats for the front and middle row, and larger screens. Additionally, Kia could introduce ADAS and other safety enhancements to boost the SUV’s safety ratings.
Powertrain OptionsUnder the hood, the new Kia 7-seater is expected to retain the current Carens' engine lineup. This includes three options: a 1.5-litre petrol engine (113bhp & 144Nm), a 1.5-litre turbo petrol (158bhp & 253Nm), and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel (113bhp & 250Nm). Transmission choices will likely include iMT, DCT, and a torque converter automatic.
With its fresh design, advanced features, and reliable powertrain, Kia’s new 7-seater could pose a serious challenge to the XUV700. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official launch!
