Nissan has stirred excitement with its latest teaser unveiling upcoming models for the Indian market. While we previously reported on the brand’s plan to introduce a budget-friendly 7-seater MPV, there’s another big surprise in store. Nissan is gearing up to launch a brand-new SUV set to compete with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Grand Vitara. Let’s dive into what this new Nissan SUV has to offer.

A Fresh Take on Nissan’s SUV Design

Once known for the Terrano, a rebadged version of the Renault Duster, Nissan discontinued the model in the early 2020s. However, with Renault preparing to introduce the next-gen Duster, Nissan is following suit with an all-new SUV—this time with a brand-new nameplate.

Drawing design inspiration from the larger Nissan Patrol, the SUV features L-shaped LED DRLs, a chrome-accented grille with the Nissan logo, and distinct design elements setting it apart from the Duster. Expect reworked front bumpers, a bold horizontal grille, bonnet scoops, and stylish alloy wheels. While Nissan has only offered a sneak peek, more design details will emerge soon.

Interiors & Feature Highlights

While Nissan hasn’t revealed much about the interior, it’s expected to share a similar theme with the new Duster but with more premium enhancements. Some anticipated features include:

10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen

7-inch digital instrument cluster

360-degree camera

Rear AC vents & automatic climate control

Multiple drive modes

ADAS suite for advanced safety

Powertrain & Performance

The upcoming SUV will likely be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 154 bhp and 250 Nm of torque—the same unit found in the Renault Duster and entry-level Mercedes-Benz models. A 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) will handle shifting duties. However, it remains unclear whether Nissan will offer an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) variant.

Expected Launch Timeline

Set to hit Indian roads in late 2026, Nissan’s new SUV is unlikely to carry the Terrano nameplate, given its lower popularity compared to the Duster. More details will emerge as the launch date approaches, so stay tuned!
