Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled the updated 2025 SP125, a commuter motorcycle designed to meet the upcoming OBD2B regulations. The new SP125 offers a blend of advanced features, modern design, and robust specifications, aiming to set a new standard in the 125cc segment. The starting price for the 2025 SP125 is Rs. 91,771 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Key Features and Specifications
The SP125, alongside its counterpart the Shine 125, remains a leader in the 125cc motorcycle market, collectively achieving around 1.5 lakh monthly sales. This makes them the top-selling motorcycles in this category. The SP125 is meticulously crafted to deliver both comfort and practicality, making it an excellent option for daily commutes.
Dimensions and Build
The motorcycle measures 2020 mm in length, 785 mm in width, and 1103 mm in height, providing a balanced and compact structure. It has a wheelbase of 1285 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm, ensuring stability and easy maneuverability across various road conditions. The seat height of 790 mm offers a comfortable riding position for individuals of different heights, and the bike’s kerb weight of 116 kg enhances its ease of handling. Additionally, the SP125 features an 11.2-liter fuel tank, allowing for extended rides without frequent refueling.
Engine and Performance
The 2025 SP125 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine, delivering 8 kW of power at 7500 rpm and 10.9 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is compliant with OBD2B emission standards. The idling stop system further improves fuel efficiency by shutting off the engine during brief stops, making it perfect for urban riding.
Tires and Brakes
The bike comes with tubeless tires—Front: 80/100-18 M/C 47P and Rear: 100/80-18 M/C 53P. It features a 240mm disc or 130mm drum brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear, ensuring reliable braking performance. The multiplate wet clutch offers smooth gear shifts through its 5-speed transmission.
