Aurangabad: Industry in Aurangabad is in fear of losing business if lockdown is imposed in the state.
The industry will not face losses for mere fifteen days, but it will face consequences for long time, industry associations here have predicted here while talking to PTI. In Aurangabad, there are industrial areas like Waluj, Shendra, Chikalthana and Railway stations in the district. The neighbouring district of Jalna also has multiple vertical industries. There are nearly seven thousand industrial units in these two districts, an MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) official told.
Marathwada Association of Small Scale Indiatries and Agriculture (MASSIA) President Abhay Hanchnal expressed the fear of losses to the newly established industrial units here. He said the business established in the past few years is much new and doesn't have much business base. The loss from a lockdown will not be only of 15 days but it will be a loss of longer time, he added.
"We will lose our customer base and ultimately, it is loss of our state," Hanchnal said. Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Marathwada Chairman Raman Ajgaonkar said, "CII will stand by the decision of the government." The Aurangabad industry supplies parts to almost every automobile company across the globe. The industry should be allowed to work even if it is in a restricted manner. "We have concentrated on retaining business we lost in the previous lockdown. Now, it will again be a loss," he added.
