BASF has launched ‘Wah Re Kisan’ (Hindi for “Salute to Farmers”), an infotainment campaign highlighting the dedication and innovation of Indian farmers. Part of The Biggest Job on Earth initiative, this series showcases five remarkable farmers whose contributions are transforming agriculture and uplifting rural communities.

Hosted by renowned film and television actor Annu Kapoor, the episodes are aired exclusively on BASF’s YouTube and Facebook channels. Ahead of the series launch, a month-long social media campaign invited farmers to share their stories, leading to the selection of five inspirational individuals. “Farmers deserve more recognition,” said Livio Tedeschi, President, BASF Agricultural Solutions. “India’s rich agricultural diversity is shaped by innovation, and we hope this campaign motivates more farmers to adopt sustainable solutions.”

The five episodes feature:

Tushar Gaware (Maharashtra): Invented an energy-efficient, low-cost solar dryer to reduce post-harvest crop losses.

♦ Manjanna TK (Karnataka): Revitalized his village with integrated farming techniques.

♦ Mahan Chandra Bora (Assam): Created a rice library preserving India’s indigenous rice varieties.

♦ Sarwan Singh Chandi (Punjab): Tackled water scarcity with diversified farming methods.

♦ Hariman Sharman (Himachal Pradesh): Introduced a revolutionary low-chilling apple variety.

“We are excited to launch 'Wah Re Kisan' and celebrate the remarkable achievements of farmers across India,” said Giridhar Ranuva, Business Director, BASF Agricultural Solutions, India. “The campaign has currently reached 35 million on social media, and I believe it is important to bring to attention to the challenges faced by farmers.

Through the infotainment episodes, we hope to build conversations around the highly creative efforts of our farmers that many living in the city would easily take for granted as we aren’t involved in how our food is produced.”
