The romantic action thriller Thandel, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, saw a strong start at the box office but experienced a dip in collections on Sunday.
Opening Weekend Performance
The film, which hit theaters on Friday, opened with ₹11.5 crore on Day 1. It continued to perform well on Saturday, earning ₹12.64 crore, marking a 9.91% increase. However, Sunday saw a slowdown, with the movie collecting ₹5.58 crore, bringing its total net India earnings to ₹29.72 crore by the end of the weekend.
Breakdown of Collections
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Thandel earned ₹11.5 crore on Friday, with ₹11.3 crore coming from Telugu audiences, ₹0.12 crore from Hindi, and ₹0.08 crore from Tamil. On Saturday, the entire ₹12.64 crore collection was from the Telugu version.
About the Film
Thandel tells the story of Raju (Naga Chaitanya), a fisherman from Matchilesam, Andhra Pradesh, who spends most of the year fishing off the Gujarat coast. His love story with Satya (Sai Pallavi) is filled with longing, phone calls, and cherished reunions. But a broken promise and a dangerous fishing trip threaten their future.
The film also stars Aadukalam Naren, Charandeep, Jabardast Mahesh, Prakash Belawadi (as a Pakistan jailer), Rao Ramesh, Karunakaran, Babloo, and Prithviraj in key roles.
