Salman Khan’s much-anticipated Eid release, Sikandar, is closing in on the ₹200 crore mark globally, collecting ₹187 crore worldwide in its first seven days. While the numbers are decent for a mainstream film, they fall short of the expectations typically set by a Salman Khan Eid blockbuster.

After the lukewarm reception of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan last year, fans had high hopes for Sikandar, especially with its strategic release a day before Eid. However, despite the buzz and fanfare, the film hasn’t quite delivered the box office fireworks usually associated with Khan’s festive releases.

Sikandar opened with ₹54 crore worldwide on Day 1, but this figure pales in comparison to recent Bollywood juggernauts like Pathaan and Animal, both of which crossed ₹100 crore on their opening days.

Domestically, the film has managed ₹97.50 crore net in its first week. While it outperformed Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (which opened at ₹13 crore), it couldn’t match the opening day numbers of previous Salman hits like Bharat (₹42 crore) or Race 3 (₹29 crore). In fact, Sikandar opened at ₹26 crore — respectable, but far from chart-topping.

When stacked up against other recent releases, Sikandar appears to be trailing. Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava brought in ₹307 crore worldwide in its first week, and Stree 2 surged past that with ₹388 crore. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal pulled in a staggering ₹563 crore in its debut week, while Shah Rukh Khan’s double whammy with Pathaan and Jawan set new records, both grossing over ₹600 crore in their opening week.

While Sikandar isn’t a flop by industry standards, it certainly hasn’t roared like a traditional Salman Eid entertainer. The performance raises a larger question — is the superstar losing his festive box office grip, or is this simply a blip before the next big bang?
