The shooting of Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, is currently underway at a luxury hotel in Hyderabad's old city, with heightened security in place following recent threats against the actor from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Salman Khan, a 'Y plus' category security protectee, has been given additional protection due to the threats, police sources confirmed on Saturday, although they declined to provide further details. In addition to government security, Khan is reportedly accompanied by his personal security team.
Earlier this week, Khan received a new death threat, marking a continuation of earlier warnings from the Bishnoi gang. The latest threat was sent via WhatsApp to Mumbai's traffic police helpline late Thursday night. The anonymous message demanded a ransom of ₹5 crore, claiming to be on behalf of the Bishnoi gang. The sender also issued threats against the lyricist of the song "Main Sikandar Hoon," which features in the film.
In response to the complaint filed by traffic officials, the Worli police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
'Sikandar', directed by the team behind Pushpa: The Rise, also stars Rashmika Mandanna.
