Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s recent comment at the Chhaava music launch has fueled speculation about a possible reference to the ongoing controversy involving Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and the latter's show India's Got Latent.
During the event, actor Vicky Kaushal asked Rahman to describe his music using three emojis. Rahman responded humorously with a "mouth closed" emoji, adding, “In the past week, we have seen what happens when the mouth opens.” His remark was met with laughter from both Kaushal and the audience, but it quickly led to questions about whether it was connected to the controversy surrounding Allahbadia's viral comments on Raina's show.
In the wake of the controversy, Samay Raina removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel. He also expressed his intent to fully cooperate with investigating agencies. Raina, in his first statement since the issue surfaced, mentioned that he had only intended to entertain people with the show and was willing to assist in ensuring a fair probe.
Allahbadia found himself at the centre of the controversy after comments he made about parents and sex during an appearance on Raina’s show sparked outrage. The comments led to social media backlash, police complaints, and widespread criticism. Allahbadia later apologized for his "lapse in judgement," but the public debate continues.
On Wednesday, Mumbai Police recorded statements from four individuals, including social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, who also appeared on the show. However, statements have not been recorded from Allahbadia himself yet.
