Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s action-packed thriller, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has set new benchmarks at the Indian box office. The highly anticipated sequel has delivered the biggest opening in the history of Indian cinema.
The film raked in ₹10.1 crore from preview shows on Wednesday and an impressive ₹165 crore on its first day at the box office. This brings the total domestic collection to ₹175.1 crore on its opening day alone.
Breaking Records Across Languages
According to trade analysts, the Telugu version of Pushpa 2 contributed ₹95.1 crore, while the Hindi version brought in ₹67 crore, surpassing the opening day collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which stood at ₹65.5 crore. The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions added ₹7 crore, ₹5 crore, and ₹1 crore, respectively.
With these numbers, Pushpa 2 has surpassed the opening day collections of previous blockbusters like SS Rajamouli’s RRR (₹133 crore) and Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 (₹116 crore). The film is now set to breach the ₹200 crore mark domestically in record time.
International Success and Unprecedented Demand
The film is also performing exceptionally well overseas, collecting $4 million (approximately ₹33 crore) at the North American box office, according to AA Creations. Positive reviews and overwhelming fan response have created unprecedented excitement, leading to the addition of midnight shows in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.
