Producer Natty Kumar Claims Pushpa 2 Didn’t Break Even in Key Markets

The producers of the highly anticipated sequel, Pushpa 2, have revealed that the film has grossed nearly Rs 2000 crores globally, setting new records. Mythri Movie Makers, which released the film, had previously teased collections in the hundreds of crores, but the long-run box office figures have yet to be confirmed officially. Despite massive expectations, the film has now raised eyebrows with conflicting reports regarding its financial success.
The movie's pre-release business was astronomical, surpassing the Rs 1000 crore mark. Notably, the film's dubbing rights were sold at an all-time high, with the Telugu version in Kerala grossing Rs 20 crores, a first for the industry. Furthermore, Pushpa 2 has already crossed break-even in markets like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and overseas, raising hopes for continued profits. However, recent statements have cast doubt on these claims, with producer Natty Kumar asserting that the film has not yet broken even.
In an unexpected turn, Kumar stated that the film faced significant losses in Andhra Pradesh, where distributors failed to make a profit. He noted that while the film saw success in Telangana and North India, Kerala did not yield the expected results. Despite Pushpa 2 breaking records elsewhere, Kumar's comments have created a stir, as they contradict the narrative of massive profits.
Kumar's remarks came amid growing concerns in the industry following IT raids on the homes of producers, financiers, and directors. His comments about Pushpa 2 being financially unsuccessful have sparked a debate, especially since the film has already shattered records previously held by Baahubali 2.
Despite Kumar's criticism, many industry insiders, as well as Allu Arjun's loyal fan base, have dismissed his claims. They argue that Kumar's history of negative comments about the film and the star's success should not be taken seriously. Fans of Allu Arjun have taken to social media, mocking Kumar for his continuous negative commentary, suggesting that his credibility is questionable.
