The 97th Academy Awards honored the best in cinema, with winners revealed in major categories. Held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the event brought together top talent from the film industry.
Sean Baker’s Anora claimed Best Picture, while Baker himself received the Best Director award. Adrien Brody secured Best Actor for his performance in The Brutalist, and Mikey Madison won Best Actress for Anora. In supporting roles, Kieran Culkin earned Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain, while Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez.
Anora continued its success with Sean Baker winning Best Original Screenplay. Peter Straughan won Best Adapted Screenplay for Conclave. Dune - Part Two dominated technical categories, winning Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. Wicked received recognition for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.
Best Original Score went to Daniel Blumberg for The Brutalist, while Best Original Song was awarded to El Mal from Emilia Perez, composed by Clément Ducol, Camille, and Jacques Audiard. The Brutalist also won Best Cinematography, credited to Lol Crawley.
The animated feature Flow won Best Animated Feature Film, while In The Shadows Of The Cypress received Best Animated Short Film. No Other Land secured Best Documentary Feature, and The Only Girl In The Orchestra took Best Documentary Short Film. I Am Not A Robot won Best Live Action Short Film, and Brazil’s I'm Still Here earned Best International Feature Film.
The Substance won Best Makeup and Hairstyling, while Anora was recognized for Best Film Editing.
