The highly anticipated Kollywood film "Test," featuring Nayanthara, Madhavan, and Siddharth, will bypass traditional theatrical release and head straight to Netflix, according to sources close to the production. The sports thriller, set against the backdrop of cricket, is expected to stream in late April or early May 2025.
The film, directed by Sashikanth, follows the lives of three individuals who experience dramatic shifts during a Test match involving Team India in Chennai. The story delves into the unexpected consequences faced by spectators at the match. With a screenplay penned by Suman Kumar, known for his directorial work on Raghu Thatha starring Keerthy Suresh, "Test" promises a gripping narrative that combines sports with personal drama.
Netflix has secured the digital rights for the film, which will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. This marks another significant move in Kollywood’s growing presence on global streaming platforms, offering fans across India and beyond access to the film in multiple languages. The digital release has sparked excitement within the Kollywood community, as the film was initially slated for a theatrical debut in 2024 but was delayed.
