Mumbai Police investigate Ranveer Allahbadia over controversial remarks on ‘India’s Got Latent’

The Mumbai police have launched an inquiry into popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia following backlash over controversial comments he made during a recent episode of India’s Got Latent, a show hosted by YouTuber Samay Raina.
Allahbadia, widely recognized for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, appeared as a guest on the show alongside fellow content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. His remarks during the episode sparked criticism, leading to calls for action against him.
Police Inquiry Underway
Dikshit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Mumbai’s Zone 9, confirmed the probe, stating, “An inquiry is ongoing in the matter.” Meanwhile, sources reported that a police team visited Khar’s Habitat building, where the show was filmed, on Monday afternoon.
Legal Complaint Filed
Advocates Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra formally lodged a written complaint with Mumbai police on Monday morning. They alleged that the comments made during the episode were obscene and offensive, particularly towards parents and women.
“The police should register an FIR against the organizers, the platform hosting the show, the artists, and all those involved,” said advocate Rai.
No FIR Registered Yet
While the police have begun their investigation, no formal First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Allahbadia or others involved in the show as of now.
This development follows widespread criticism of Allahbadia’s remarks, with figures such as Neelesh Mishra publicly condemning the content. Meanwhile, calls for a ban on Allahbadia have emerged, though others argue that censorship is not the solution.
The situation continues to unfold as authorities assess the complaints and evidence related to the incident.
