Director Barry Jenkins Turns Origin Story Into Rousing
Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King takes us back to Pride Land to learn the origin story of the magnificent lion king. Director Barry Jenkins believes that revisiting the Disney classic "The Lion King" with the prequel "Mufasa: The Lion King" would let the viewer understand that the protagonist Lion Mufasa was never perfect, and the scar was not always evil.
"For 30 years we've been living with this idea of Mufasa as unimpeachably great and good, and Scar is like the full embodiment of evil," Jenkins said.
"In this story, we get to go back and show that no one is born good or born evil. You'll get a result of all these different choices that you make—good parenting, bad parenting, nature versus nurture," he added.
Therefore, he found that it was critical to the story to introduce a more complex look at the classic characters.
On the other side, the visuals in the film are outstanding. Disney once again achieves photorealistic animation that brings Pride Land to life with breathtaking detail. From the bright Savanna scenery to the delicately sculpted character emotions, the movie is visually stunning.
Mufasa, distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, will be released tomorrow. So, what are you waiting for? Book your tickets today and enjoy the poignant prequel.
