Jaat Day 1 Box Office: Sunny Deol's New Film Opens at ₹9.5 Cr, Falls Short of Gadar 2's Roar

Jaat box office collection day 1: 2023's Gadar 2 became Sunny Deol's most successful project after four decades in the industry and led to his involvement with several upcoming projects like Jaat, Border 2 and Lahore 1947. The debut film Jaat has premiered without experiencing a drop in success similar to Gadar 2. The movie Gadar 2 which is a sequel to the 2001 hit fetched approximately Rs 40 crore on its debut day. The film Jaat achieved first-day Jaat movie collection of Rs 9.5 crore in India according to Sacnilk.
The film Jaat premiered on Thursday which coincided with Mahavir Jayanti holiday celebrations in many northern Indian regions. The movie witnessed a 14 percent occupancy. The film ran 1472 times in Delhi-NCR and achieved about 19 percent occupancy. The film ran 984 screenings in Mumbai while maintaining roughly 11 percent occupancy.
The Vicky Kaushal-led movie Chhaava emerged as the top-grossing Hindi film of the year with impressive box office earnings of Rs 31 crore during its initial day in theatres. Salman Khan’s Sikandar and Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force hold the second and third positions respectively. The film Sikandar earned approximately Rs 26 crore while Sky Force made just above Rs 12 crore. Sikandar failed at the box office while trade analysts claimed Sky Force manipulated its box office figures. The film Jaat currently holds the position of fourth highest-grossing of Jaat movie 1st day collection opening in the year while Shahid Kapoor's Deva follows with Rs 5.5 crore earned on its premiere day.
While Jaat's box office results seem small next to Gadar 2, they exceed the performance of any of Sunny’s other recent movies. For two decades between Gadar and Gadar 2 Sunny experienced numerous box office failures although the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise and Apne had minor successes. The films featured Bobby Deol and Dharmendra as part of their casts.
