The Indian Film & Television Directors' Association and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees have demanded a ban on the release of Abir Gulaal. Fawad Khan was all ready to woo audiences with his romantic appeal yet again in Abir Gulaal. Now the Pahalgam terror attack seems to have marred this actor's return to Bollywood. Film regulatory bodies have demanded Abir Gulaal's release to be put on hold.

The Indian Film & Television Directors' Association, also the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) raised a strong objection against Abir Gulaal's screening. Both of them registered complaints about the Indian film fraternity's collaborations with actor Fawad Khan-who has been caught in the crossfire of frosty relationships between India and Pakistan.

The President of the Film and Television Directors association of India, Ashoke Pandit, has long claimed that the incident looks like a war against the country. These attacks have been continuing for 30 years. We, as a federation, sincerely request that no one work with Pakistan. These artists and the so-called "community" are just bulls***ters; putting this country first should come first.

Though Ashoke Pandit did not mention Vaani Kapoor and the producers of Abir Gulaal by name, he said, "if the heroine of the film or family members of the makers had been attacked by the terrorist, they wouldn't have worked (with Fawad)." He also said that the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association will pass an order boycotting anyone who collaborates with Pakistani artistes.
